ACTIVATING YOUR CPS ACCOUNT

How do you activate your CPS account...

You probably will not be able to sign up for the e-Instruction Chem 351 class until on or after the first day of classes.

1. You will need a computer with internet access, a credit card* and two "codes"
   (a) the serial number of your CPSrf clicker response pad (see pictures below).
   (b) the class key (see below)
   
2. On the computer, connect to the E-Instruction website
3. Click the Higher Ed Students button
4. In the new window, select "University of Calgary" from the drop down menu
   
5. Click "Choose site"

*Unfortunately, there is a small fee per semester to register to use the E-Instruction handset. Note that you only have to pay one fee per semester not per course per semester.

If you need to create a NEW ACCOUNT

1. Enter the class key into the "Class Key" box (be careful, copy the class keys exactly!)

2. Enter the serial number from your CPSrf clicker response pad (see below).
3. Read and agree to the Student Refind Policy then hit "Next >>"
4. Once you have joined the class, you will need to enter a username, password and an email address.
   
5. Enter your personal information such as first and last name. If you don't enter this information, it will make it hard for us to give you your CPS mark!
6. Click "Finish"
7. Click "Enter" to confirm that you are a member of the class and reminds you of your username, password and your CPSrf clicker response pad number.
8. Click "Log out"

1. Log in to your account, if you have forgotten the username or password then you can request that the information be emailed to you by eInstruction.
2. Once you are logged in then enroll in a new class with the new class key (be careful, copy the class keys exactly!)

PROBLEMS?

Make sure you have entered your class key exactly as stated. In the past students have missed out characters....

The most common reasons for your CPSrf clicker not working in class are :

1. Incorrect serial number - check the serial number registered in your name in your e-Instruction CPS account.
2. Make sure you are registered in the CPS Class that matches the lecture section you are in.
3. Make sure the clicker has working batteries in it.

Note:

Registration of your clicker requires some personal information (name and ID number) be provided. You may be asked other questions about gender or race that you are not required to answer. In order that we can give you your participation marks for CPS, we have to be able to match the name and / or ID number used in the e-Instrcution registration to our classlists. Grades associated with the use of CPS clickers are not provided to e-Instruction, they are only accessible to course instructors.
