Chem 351 Concept Map

The purpose of the concept map is to provide students with the "big picture" of how various topics fit together and interelate as the course progresses.  Students often don't know or can't see why topics are important whereas the instructor does because of their knowledge of the course material.

The central "column" of topics (connected by a thick black line), stereochemistry, structure, functional groups, reactivity and reactions could be regarded as the main "core" topics. Topics in blue are "organic key concepts" and those in italics are topics that you should have met in 1st year that are going to be very important towards your future success.

Note :  Where possible, words in the figure that are "specific" topics are linked to the relevant pages, just click on the words.
