Catalysis is now…

Catalysis is the process by which chemical reactions are accelerated and made more selective. These processes are mediated by catalysts and more than 90% of all industrial chemical reactions involve some form of catalysis.
Catalysis is the future…

A major current challenge for catalysis science is to design molecular catalysts that control activity and selectivity in chemical reactions that will generate advanced polymer materials, help provide for our future energy needs and prepare new human pharmaceuticals.
Catalysis is here…

The Piers group is working in several areas of homogeneous catalysis focused on well-defined main group and transition metal based catalysts. Our work involves advanced synthetic chemistry to make the catalysts, detailed mechanistic studies to determine how they operate, and the design of new catalysts and catalytic reactions.
